Alexa & the magical farm
Hurry up Alexa,” yelled Elsie to her sister. “You're so slow." Ugh, older sisters, she thought. They could be so annoying. Alexa and Elsie went out riding on their glamorous shiny horses, well more like fat, stubborn ponies. Elsie sat on a tall shiny horse with a black mane called Moonlight while Alexa sat on a small, brown, stubby pony called Midgie.
Alexa lived on a huge farm in the middle of Holgate Central Coast NSW Australia. It was summertime and boy, was it hot. Well, at least it was back when their mother had asked them to go out into the garden and fetch some parsley for supper. They rode down all the way past to the back bit of the farm where there was the massive veggie patch with flowers, herbs and most importantly the parsley that their mother had asked them to get. Alexa walked over and grabbed the parsley before she had realized Elsie was nowhere to be seen, she turned around and she saw Elsie already halfway back home. “Elsie, wait up!” Alexa yelled. Elsie didn't hear. She was about to yell again when she heard a soft whispering saying “Alexa, Alexa come, come.” It went from a whisper then up to normal volume. She didn't know what it was. She was scared and turned around as she thought her sister was playing a trick on her but she looked back and her sister was already almost home.
Alexa jumped back onto Midgie and started riding back home she looked around one more time. What was making that noise she thought. She felt stupid because she thought it was coming from a flower but that could not happen. But then again there was electric gate all around her farm. How would anybody get inside? Nobody else was outside except for Elsie but Elsie had literally just gone back inside. So she thought maybe it could happen. She got off Midgie and walked over to the flower.
It looked like the sun. The petals were thin and the same color as the sun, sort of a yellowy orange where the pollen was meant to be. The next inside circle was the same color as the petals, a big plain yellow orange circle that looked exactly like a sun.
She went over, she loved to smell flowers. She bent down and smelted but instead of smelling like normal sunflowers it smelled like mangoes and chocolate and raspberries She thought her mind must be playing tricks on her. She thought maybe she was dreaming, she did it again. Ouch that hurt, oopsies she had a red mark where she finished.
She looked back to where Elsie was. She saw her guiding Moonlight over to her paddocks, she saw her look around and point back and laugh. She walked back inside, looked back one more time, pretended to laugh and pointed again and walked back inside. At least she's gone now because if she saw her thinking that she thought a flower was whispering then it smelled like chocolate she would never believe and just run off. She touched it. Her hand went through it. She tried to pick it up, she never really appreciated nature, so she didn't care that she was trying to pull a plant out of the ground. The plant said “Ouch!” Alexa said, “Hello, anyone here?”
“What? Did you just speak, f-flower?” she was stammering. She was so confused. The flower said, “Come Alexa, come with me."
She was terrified now she didn't believe it but for some reason her legs and her arms wanted to go with the flower as it was like it was meant to be. She placed her hand on the middle of the flower and said “What do I have to do?”
The flower said, “Just sit down and hold on to my stem.” So, Alexa did what she was told.’
Whooossshhh! Her eyes suddenly shut, she opened them, but it was still black, so she peeked just to check. It hurt they were definitely open. She didn't know what was happening. All of a sudden it got bright, really bright but she couldn't quite make out the shape sort. And then nothing.
